This Beast-Tamer is a Little Strange

Chapter 80: Chapter 80: The New Partners

Nickname: N/A

Species: Matronia

Matronia is a bacteria inherited from mother to daughter in insect species. It usually inhabits the reproductive organs of its host and uses a variety of methods to ensure that the future generation is all female.

Such methods include, but are not limited to killing all male embryos before they can hatch, male eggs from infected mothers developing as females or infertile pseudofemales, enabling females of a species to reproduce by parthenogenesis, and more. In return, it grants its host increased resistance against diseases and poisons, while also increasing the growth speed of its host.

Quality: Silver

Spiritual Power Grade: Red (500/1000 SP)

Type: Microorganism (Bacteria)

Attribute: Life

Skills:

S-Eve's Law: It can exert supreme authority over its host's future descendants. From whether or not they'd be permitted to be born, to their gender. This control also extends beyond the womb to control the life or death of all progeny.

A-Perfect Symbiosis: The infected host and all future descendants will be conferred with increased resistance to poisons and disease, while also benefitting from a faster growth speed.

Kain was pleasantly surprised. While it didn't have as many skills as Bea, the skills it did have were of supreme quality.

Looking at the information panel he could finally understand the cause of the previous things that puzzled him. The reason why there were no male wasps, was likely because his contract had turned all of them into females or pseudofemales. There were 7 wasps remaining, and Kain had killed 5, which perfectly adds up to the 12 wasps you'd expect in a red-grade Vespirae nest.

Except instead of 10 males and 2 female guards, they were now 12 guards.

The wasps' resistance to Bea could also be explained. The life-attribute energy from Matronia was continuously fighting against Bea.

Similar to Bea, Matronia also seems to need a host to absorb energy. However, thankfully Kain doesn't have to worry about this, and similar to a normal contract, the queen bee is able to absorb spiritual power in Kain's space that has already been perfectly tailored to her, and that spiritual power will in turn be fed back to Matronia.

In addition to the boost in absorption the star space will provide, Matronia's A-level skill will also increase the rate of absorption. Therefore, Matronia and the queen will likely be Kain's first contract to enter orange-grade, they may even advance before college starts in 2 and a half weeks.

Before turning to the additional information panels the System provides for the Vespirae queen and her daughters, he decided to first give his new contract a name.

After thinking for a while, he decided to take her name from her main skill, Eve.

Nickname: N/A

Species: Vespirae Queen (Host-Secondary Contract)

The Vespirae queen reigns supreme over its hive and her comfort and safety is to the utmost importance of her children. The honey produced by their species can take on the effects of the flower whose nectar was used to produce it. Due to being the host for Matronia, all of her offspring are female.

Quality: Silver

Spiritual Power Grade: Red (500/1000 SP)

Type: Insect-type (Wasp)

Attribute: Wind

Skills:

A-Royal Command: She can boost the stats of her offspring by 30% for a limited time. Duration depends on the number of children being affected and skill proficiency.

A-Noble Breeze: She can summon a gentle gust of air to induce a calming effect to reduce the aggression and vigilance of enemies. On allies, it can heal minor mental ailments and restore mental strength.

The great luck continued. Although she doesn't have much combat ability herself, the queen acts as an excellent support to her daughters in battle. Additionally, her second skill to restore mental strength was of extra importance to Kain as it would speed up his recovery after feeding Bea. Although he'd need to test the skill at a later date to see its effectiveness.

Kain was also relieved to see that the amount of spiritual power the Queen possesses seems to be identical to Eve, meaning that he didn't have to worry about one lagging behind the other if their growth occurs simultaneously.

Similar to Eve, Kain felt like it wasn't appropriate to keep calling her wasp queen. She needed a name. Not wanting to be too complicated he eventually settled on Queen and for her children he will just name them One through Twelve.

Kain nodded satisfied with his excellent naming choices and continued to look at the information panel for the wasp guards.

Nickname: One/Two/Three…

Species: Vespirae Guard (Tertiary Contract)

The elite protectors of the hive that are born from their eggs as warriors. Their fierce combat prowess is supported by their incredibly fast flight speed, hard armored exoskeleton and a razor-sharp ejectable stinger. Due to no males being in the nest, these females are also uniquely responsible for the production of honey and care of the queen.

Quality: Silver

Spiritual Power Grade: Red (500/1000 SP)

Type: Insect-type (Wasp)

Attribute: Wind

Skills:

B-Berserk: When sensing that the queen is in danger, all of their stats will double at the cost of large decrease in intelligence. This skill cannot be activated at will and is only triggered under specific conditions.

B-Storm Eject: Ejects the stinger with a burst of wind to increase its speed and the damage dealt.

D-Dauntless: These soldiers are fearless and immune to any fear-inducing mental attacks.

'It's okay, but there's still room for improvement.' Kain felt that his standard for skills had risen due to the skill levels of his primary contracts. Even Queen, his secondary contract, has two A-level skills.

However, two B-level skills are quite decent for a red-grade spiritual beast. The top students at high-tier colleges just below the top 5, may only have their main contract be at this level.

After getting a better understanding of all his new partners, Kain finally went to sleep with his curiosity satisfied.
