Chapter 20: Doing what an S tier could not
"I have," Damien turned to look at Gilderoy Wolfe, the current head of the Wolfe family. With a professional smile on his face, he explained, "This is not a major issue, as long as the healers had determined the cause of the continuous bleeding before using any healing spells, everything would have been fine, Lord Gilderoy."
Gilderoy's eyes widened as he turned to look at his daughter and then back at Damien. He seemed to be questioning whether the world had tilted upside down and he had somehow stumbled into an alternative reality.
How in the world, did a trashy, discarded prince do something that even an S-tier healer could not do?
'That's what he is thinking right now,' thought Damien as he studied the expression of the man who was staring up and down at him.
"…Are you implying that the healers whom I have called to heal my son did not carefully examine him?" Gilderoy seemed to be having trouble accepting the reality.
Of course, Damien did not blame him, instead, he looked at Gilderoy almost sympathetically.
This man had looked down on the body he had occupied for several good years of his life and now all of a sudden the reality Gilderoy believed in had turned around.
Damien understood the man.
He too would have had a hard time accepting such a thing if one of his bumbling idiots of a trainee doctor came to him and told him that they had performed a perfect heart transplant when in truth they had a hard time even drawing blood from patients.
"I won't say that they made a wrong deduction, it is just that they did not pay attention to something they should have," replied Damien. He turned to Wistoria and asked, "Can you ask someone to bring Blood of Goblins, Slipheather and Bunglemint? And of course, a pestle and mortar would be nice too."
Wistoria frowned upon hearing the list of ingredients. However, she still asked one of the servants to bring the herbs and ingredients that Damien asked for. "Go and bring them."
She was half curious and half confused as she did not understand why Damien wanted medical ingredients which were usually frowned upon by healers and wanted to see what Damien was even trying to do.
The servant bowed his head before taking his leave.
"…Blood of Goblins? Are you implying that Nicolas has been drugged with an aphrodisiac?" Gilderoy asked with a growing dissatisfaction as the use of goblin blood in this world was to quench the thirst of women or men when they are drugged by an aphrodisiac.
He paused and added, "Even if he was there is no way the healers would not have noticed, after all, they have studied and researched more than a hundred poisons as well as their antidotes."
Damien sighed. Seriously being a doctor in a world of magic spells and potions was really difficult. No one heard a thing that he had to say. He turned around and looked at Gilderoy before saying,
"Milord, I didn't just ask for Blood of Goblins but also Slipheather and Bunglemint," Damien though annoyed, politely spoke to the man. "And not once did I say that his condition is a result of getting drugged by an aphrodisiac."
"What—"
"Lady Wistoria, I have brought the ingredients," the servants who went to the apothecary to get the ingredients returned, and behind him was a young man.
With his light brown hair with golden edges at the end, the man reminded Damien of a barnyard animal. Which he might be given that this world was where the beastmen prevailed.
"This man here told me that someone is going to treat Lord Nicolas's wounds," said the man with a nervous yet curious voice.
His eyes peered at the bed where Nicolas was lying and then he turned to look at Damien who was sitting next to the bed. "Are you the one going to treat the wound, Lord Damien?" The man asked with a slight tilt of his head.
"I dare say I am indeed going to treat this wound," Damien said as he took the ingredients that the servant had brought along with pestle and mortar.
He looked down at the stone pestle and mortar before asking Dan, "Will I get a skill where I can process the ingredients without using these things?" He was not complaining but it was indeed a bit troublesome to process medical ingredients with such low-quality materials.
"Yes, if your mana energy recovers then you can process the medical ingredients," replied Dan and Damien heaved a sigh of relief. Well as long as there was hope.
Damien ground the leaves of Slipheather and Bunglemint herbs before adding the goblin blood as per the instructions of Dan.
Once the three ingredients were perfectly mixed together, Damien used his hands to squeeze out the slimy liquid while throwing the waste in the trash can sitting next to the wooden cabinet behind him.
"Is this salve?" The man who came with the servant asked while peering over Damien's shoulder. "Fascinating, I have only seen the low-ranking beastmen using such a thing."
"It's an ointment," Damien corrected and then turned to look at Nicolas who was half conscious and half unconscious before asking, "You don't feel any pain, do you?"
"What kind of question is that? My son has been bleeding for hours, of course—"
"No…it doesn't hurt."
