AI Doctor : From Slave to Beast King

Chapter 91: Go Big or Go Home

'I am not... but isn't it way too far away?' thought Damien while watching Xavier.

However, he seemed to have underestimated Xavier. The man tapped the back of his heel lightly before saying to Damien, "Try to put a bit of your strength in your right leg and use that pressure to push your body forward. Usually, beastmen use their mana to give themselves a bit more of a lift."

"But since that is not possible in your case, try to use your body's strength to your advantage. As he spoke, he demonstrated Damien how to use his lower body to alleviate his body a bit from the ground before turning on his feet and stabbing the stone with the sword.

"Of course if you have mana, you can also do this." Xavier tapped the stone with the tip of his sword, and a second later the stone burst into countless pieces.

"Wow," Damien muttered while looking at the pieces of the stone on the floor as Xavier tied another stone in place of the one that he had destroyed. Does this mean that he could also do something so cool as that?

"It's your turn, Lord Damien." Xavier stepped aside after he was done tying the stone on the branch by the rope.

"Okay," Damien nodded as he took position where Xavier was standing and raised his sword. But –a second passed by, a minute went by, and soon an entire five minutes were wasted by him.

Seeing that he was not making a move, Xavier couldn't help but ask, "What do you think you are doing?"

"I am waiting," Damien replied while watching the stone swing back and forth. As he was not as skilled with his aim, he didn't want to take any risks.

A nerve throbbed on Xavier's forehead; he raised his hand and then rubbed his temples. "Lord Damien," he said to him with a sigh. "Have you seen anyone stop in the middle of their attack? Do not forget that you are learning to fend against your enemies. In case you cannot do it, then you might as well quit altogether."

"You want me to lie down and wait for my enemies to kill me?" Damien questioned the man.

"If you cannot even stab a swinging stone, what's the point of learning anything?" Xavier shot back.

"You…" Damien paused. He closed his eyes and inhaled before exhaling deeply. What was he doing—losing his temper with a man who was half his age? Well, not half exactly, but he was still the older one here. exactly,

Throwing a temper tantrum at his age didn't suit him.

Damien turned to look at the swinging stone and turned his entire attention to it. He took a breath before mimicking the same moves that Xavier had shown him.

However, no matter how he moved, Damien was not able to hit the stone.

He tried once and twice and thrice... and yet missed all of his hits.

"If you cannot—"

"I will," Damien snapped at Xavier. He had a mission to take and fulfil. There was no way he was going there unarmed and unprepared. He had to learn how to use the water blade.

Without it, he would be at the mercy of others.

Xavier watched Damien swing his sword.

He did it once and then twice before going for a third time.

Neither of them knew how much time had passed by; they only knew one thing and that was:

Damien had actually attacked the stone a thousand times and only got five attacks.

But even so,

Xavier looked at the small hole in the ground where Damien was standing. He had to admit that Damien was rather stubborn and a determined man. Even though his arms were shaking like that, he was still not giving up.

"Lord Damien, do you not want to stop now?" Xavier asked while looking at the man whose arms were shaking as if they were on the edge of falling off.

'Should I?' thought Damien, as he was indeed tempted by Xavier's words. His arms were aching so badly that Damien swore he could feel the tips of his fingers going cold. The muscles of his arms werestiff,f and moving them made him wince with pain.

But—

The memory of his predecessor before his death was still fresh in his mind. If that man had known how to defend himself or even use his mana, then nothing would have happened to him.

The pain and the agony of the injury made him grimace; Damien didn't want such a thing to repeat itself. He had lost his life once, and he didn't want to lose this chance again.

And honestly, compared to the efforts and trouble that he went through to become a doctor, was this rock even comparable to that?

Damien felt a burst of coolness in his breast pocket. He frowned and looked at the dagger that had been lying still with no changes for ages and grinned. It seemed to him that someone was just as eager as him.

Since that was the case, then he might as well go big or go home.

Damien threw the wooden sword on the ground before fetching the dagger that he always carried with him.

He turned to look at Xavier before saying to him with a grin, "Let's go crazy, Xavier."

Xavier frowned upon seeing the man taking out the water blade. He said to Damien, "Lord Damien, I understand how you feel but you have no mana. And without mana, you can never use this sword again."

"Are you sure about it?" Damien asked Xavier with a slight grin on his lips. "Why don't you tell me how to pour mana into my sword?"
