The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 168: Senior, You’re So Sly

“No,” Luo Ziling shook his head, smiling embarrassedly, “I was thinking about something else.”

Yang Qingyin didn’t ask but instead sipped her tea with a smile, her eyes rolling around as she watched Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling hesitated a bit but decided to tell Yang Qingyin what happened at noon: “The mother I’ve never met since childhood sent someone to see me today!”

“What?!” Yang Qingyin exclaimed, almost choking on the tea she just sipped, “Such a coincidence?”

“But she didn’t show up, I didn’t see her,” Luo Ziling said with a gloomy face, “She sent someone with a bunch of gifts and told me not to worry about anything, that she would take care of the incident from last night.”

Yang Qingyin looked at Luo Ziling, her face full of surprise. She was too astonished by this revelation.

But she tactfully didn’t inquire further, even though she really wanted to know everything.

“This is the watch she gave me, and a phone just like yours,” Luo Ziling said, showing off the watch on his wrist to Yang Qingyin with a hint of pride, “It’s a pretty nice watch.”

Upon seeing the watch on Luo Ziling’s wrist, Yang Qingyin’s expression grew even more peculiar. She reached out to hold Luo Ziling’s wrist and took a closer look before smiling and asking, “Do you know the brand of this watch?”

“No,” Luo Ziling shook his head honestly, “I just think it’s pretty nice.”

“Vacheron Constantin,” Yang Qingyin revealed the brand of the watch without blinking, watching for Luo Ziling’s reaction.

“What brand is that?” Luo Ziling looked puzzled.

Seeing that Luo Ziling didn’t appear to be feigning ignorance, Yang Qingyin chuckled and said, “This watch could buy you twenty iPhones.”

“What? It’s that expensive?” Luo Ziling was startled, “Isn’t that over a hundred thousand?”

“Looks like your mom is a wealthy lady,” Yang Qingyin joked again.

In fact, when she first met Luo Ziling, she had already determined that Luo Ziling wasn’t a child from an ordinary family.

Children from ordinary families don’t have his kind of temperament. People with a natural aristocratic air are rare, and if Luo Ziling truly had been raised in a small mountain village in the Northwest as a farmer’s son, he simply wouldn’t possess such an aura.

Having seen many handsome and noble young men from wealthy families, her heart raced at the first sighting of Luo Ziling, an unprecedented sensation for her. How could a man who made her heart beat faster possibly be ordinary?

Thus, from their first meeting, she was convinced that Luo Ziling came from an extraordinary background.

Now, this belief was further confirmed.

Luo Ziling’s estranged mother, in her first act of gifting, presented him with such an expensive watch. If his mother was just an ordinary person, how could she afford to be so generous?

Yang Qingyin couldn’t fathom how complex Luo Ziling’s identity could be.

It was too complex, like how his mother in Yanjing hadn’t seen him for twenty years, and even after he came to Yanjing for studies, she never visited him. When Luo Ziling got into trouble, she merely sent someone instead of coming herself.

Yang Qingyin could sense the intricacies entwined in these matters.

“I’ve been a bit dazed today, still haven’t fully come to terms with it,” Luo Ziling said, feeling a little embarrassed as Yang Qingyin’s beautiful eyes fixated on him, and he quickly added an explanation.

Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, he curiously asked, “Senior, who was the person that came with you yesterday? Why did the police listen to her commands?”

“Someone from my family,” Yang Qingyin smiled and responded, “She’s got some influence, often deals with the police. I didn’t have anyone else to call, so I had no choice but to bring her along. Don’t tell me you took a liking to her? She’s quite attractive and currently single. How about I introduce you? Though, she’s several years older than you. If you don’t mind…”

“Senior!” Luo Ziling cut her off, laughing, “You’re so cunning. I won’t ask anymore then!”

Yang Qingyin knew what Luo Ziling meant and giggled twice before saying, “Alright, let’s have tea then!”

Some things, like family affairs, she didn’t want to say too much about. It wasn’t that she wanted to deliberately keep Luo Ziling in the dark, but rather that she felt it wasn’t the right time to talk about these matters.

“Senior, it seems like your background is even more complicated than mine,” said Luo Ziling, sipping his tea and sizing up Yang Qingyin, “Maybe one day, you’ll surprise me big time.”

“You as well, maybe one day you’ll give me a big shock!” Yang Qingyin said playfully with a smile.

While they were having tea, Luo Ziling received a phone call from the police station.

The call was from Director Li Qingyang.

“Mr. Luo, we have essentially cleared up the case from yesterday,” Director Li Qingyang told Luo Ziling over the phone, “The three men who started harassing your classmate did it deliberately to draw you out. The gangsters that came after are local thugs, tasked with revenge against you. The security guards were the same, they meant to teach you a lesson.”

“Director Li, who was behind all this?” Luo Ziling asked, frowning.

“It was Zong Shishan, the deputy manager responsible for security at that KTV club, the same guy who played the victim and lodged a complaint first when the police arrived on the scene,” Li Qingyang answered Luo Ziling’s question before softly adding, “Mr. Luo, have you had any conflict with Zong Shishan?”

“No,” Luo Ziling denied without hesitation, “I don’t know that person, and I can assure you I’ve never had any dealings with him.”

“But he claims to have had a conflict with you, Mr. Luo, and sought revenge because of it.”

Hearing Director Li say this made Luo Ziling furrow his brows: “Director Li, since I came to school, I’ve only had conflicts with two people, one named Li Jiaqing, the other Lu Weiguang. They are both students at our school, and besides them, I haven’t had issues with anyone else.”

Luo Ziling didn’t believe the incident was orchestrated by the security manager of the KTV, as he had no acquaintance with the brawny man, and thus there was no enmity. Subconsciously, he felt that the person plotting revenge must be either Li Jiaqing or Lu Weiguang, no one else.

The prime suspect was Li Jiaqing. He had been in a fierce conflict with Li Jiaqing’s people and had thrown them into a pond.

After hearing what Luo Ziling said, Director Li Qingyang seemed to understand something and replied very discreetly, “Alright, I got it. Thank you, Mr. Luo, for providing this information.”

After hanging up the phone, Luo Ziling felt somewhat disheartened. It seemed the person who framed him had been somewhat clever; even the police failed to trace any clues.

At that moment, Yang Qingyin whispered, “Have you had a conflict with Lu Weiguang before?”
