The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 196: Awkward

“Did you walk into the wrong private room?” Seeing that the other party was a pretty woman, and his playful conversation with Yang Qingyin was interrupted, Luo Ziling was a bit upset, but he still politely stood up to ask her.

“I didn’t walk into the wrong one,” the beautiful woman stared at Luo Ziling without blinking an eye, “I was dining here too and saw you both, so I came over to check it out.”

“Uh, do you know us?” Luo Ziling asked the pretty woman in surprise and then glanced at Yang Qingyin beside him.

Yang Qingyin had already lost her earlier joviality and instead had a flushed face, looking both annoyed and ashamed.

After taking a serious look at the beautiful woman, Luo Ziling kind of understood.

“You know… Qingyin? You are…” he whispered to the beautiful woman.

“She’s my mom,” Yang Qingyin murmured and then stood up too.

“Ah?! Your mom?” Luo Ziling was taken aback but immediately accepted what Yang Qingyin had said.

The beautiful woman who had pushed the door open a bit rudely did resemble Yang Qingyin, and the more he looked, the more they seemed alike. He suddenly felt embarrassed, his face flushing as he became a bit flustered, “Well… uh… Auntie… What a coincidence. Why not sit down and join us? We haven’t started eating yet.”

The first sentence was a bit stammered, but the latter flowed more smoothly.

Luo Ziling had not experienced grand scenes, had little to do with women, and understood even less about the ways of the world.

When meeting strangers, his face would turn red, and he would naturally look shy.

However, to Yang Qingyin’s mother, Chen Qiaoyu, this appearance was very pleasant to her.

A very green and innocent young man, whose shyness was extremely endearing; she took an instant liking to this handsome young man who had just been flirting with Yang Qingyin. She also understood why Yang Qingyin had fallen for him.

Without needing too many reasons, just one look and you’d fall for him, even she felt that way.

After sizing up Luo Ziling from top to bottom, which made him blush even more, Chen Qiaoyu finally explained to Yang Qingyin, who was looking at her angrily, “Yin’er, mom came here today with a couple of foreign clients for dinner, and just happened to see you both come in, so I came to say hi.”

Yang Qingyin didn’t believe her mother’s explanation at all; she knew that Chen Qiaoyu had intentionally barged in to take a good look at Luo Ziling. She also quickly guessed why her mother knew she and Luo Ziling were having dinner at this time and felt even more angry.

Chen Qiaoyu knew her explanation wouldn’t be believed by Yang Qingyin, let alone satisfy her precious daughter, but she didn’t back down nor did she immediately leave. Instead, she sat down next to Luo Ziling and motioned for him and Yang Qingyin, who had both stood up, to sit down too.

“Since we’ve met, you two should at least chat with me for a bit,” Chen Qiaoyu said with a smiling face, ignoring her daughter’s anger and instead kindly started inquiring about Luo Ziling.

“I’m Qingyin’s mother, and you must be Qingyin’s classmate, right? But I’ve never heard her mention you. Could you introduce yourself?”

Chen Qiaoyu had a very elegant demeanor, was very pretty, and, having mingled in official circles for many years, always maintained a composed and confident poise. She also knew very well how to get along with a young man like Luo Ziling in a way that would win his approval and fondness. Therefore, while asking questions, she wore a gentle smile on her face, and her voice was very soft.

She was aware that if she questioned Luo Ziling aggressively, with a superior air, it would not only make the young man nervous but also instinctively want to escape, and it would also upset Yang Qingyin, even leading to a big argument with her afterward.

Therefore, when she asked questions, her demeanor and tone were both very amiable, scanning Luo Ziling with the scrutinizing eyes of a standard mother-in-law.

For Luo Ziling, what he lacked most was maternal love. Chen Qiaoyu looked at him with such affection, and her questions were so kind that he instantly took a liking to Yang Qingyin’s beautiful mother.

“My name is Luo Ziling,” he answered honestly.

“You’re really handsome and quite polite. By the way, how old are you this year? Where are you from?”

“Mom!” Before Luo Ziling could respond, Yang Qingyin, who was sitting to the side, called out angrily and then grabbed Luo Ziling’s hand, “Let’s go, let’s have dinner somewhere else.”

Chen Qiaoyu hadn’t expected Yang Qingyin to react so violently and was surprised, quickly standing up, “Then I won’t ask anymore, you two go ahead and have dinner.”

She knew her daughter’s personality well; most of the time, Yang Qingyin behaved like the perfect obedient daughter.

But beneath Yang Qingyin’s fragile exterior was an incredibly stubborn heart; if she got angry, the result could be very frightening.

Yang Qingyin had never lost her composure in front of others, nor had she ever lost her temper with her parents. Today, she had lashed out at her mother in front of Luo Ziling, and Chen Qiaoyu knew that her daughter was truly angry.

If she didn’t acquiesce to Yang Qingyin’s wishes, her precious daughter might stay mad at her for a long time and not want to come home.

Seeing that Chen Qiaoyu wanted to leave, Luo Ziling quickly tried to keep her there, “Auntie, please sit for a while longer. It’s not often we get to meet like this, let’s have dinner together.”

He knew how important Yang Qingyin’s mother was to him; if he wanted a special relationship with Yang Qingyin, then he definitely had to get past the hurdle of her parents. Since he had the chance today, he definitely wanted to leave a good impression with Yang Qingyin’s mother.

Having a longer chat with Yang Qingyin’s mother was something he very much wanted—she seemed quite amiable, and her impression of him was good; he enjoyed talking to her more.

Chen Qiaoyu glanced at Yang Qingyin twice and ultimately decided not to stay, “I need to accompany guests; I can’t leave them for too long. With me here, you two won’t be comfortable eating, I won’t disturb you two any longer.”

As she spoke, she then instructed Yang Qingyin, “Yin’er, if you have time, bring Ziling home for dinner, would that be alright?”

“Mom!” Yang Qingyin pouted and called out.

“I’m leaving,” Chen Qiaoyu smiled again at Luo Ziling, but didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she walked over to Yang Qingyin, smiling and asked, “When will you come home for dinner? Bring Qingye along too, your dad has been at home on most days recently, he hasn’t seen you in a long time.”

“Alright,” Yang Qingyin, feeling like her mother had completely embarrassed her today, just wanted her mother to leave quickly to lessen her own embarrassment.

She’d never dreamed that something like this would happen today, and she felt a deep sense of guilt towards Luo Ziling.

Ultimately, Chen Qiaoyu left their private room, and when she did, she took a few more glances at Luo Ziling.

When only the two of them were left in the private room, Yang Qingyin was extremely embarrassed and didn’t know how to explain to Luo Ziling.
