The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 217: If You Hadn’t Mentioned It, I Would Have Forgotten Already

After Li Jiaqing and his son left, Lu Lianda and Lu Weiguang sat at the table drinking.

Facing his own father, Lu Weiguang felt a bit intimidated, not daring to raise his head too high.

“Dad, why aren’t you punishing me for such a serious matter?” After drinking a few glasses with Lu Lianda, Lu Weiguang cautiously asked.

“As long as you can win over Yang Qingyin, no matter what trouble you cause, it doesn’t matter,” Lu Lianda sipped his drink and then sighed, “Your relationship with Yang Qingyin has always been good, and Chen Qiaoyu also quite likes you. The two of you coming together was practically certain.”

Upon hearing Lu Lianda say this, Lu Weiguang suddenly understood something.

It turned out that his father hoped he would marry Yang Qingyin, which would mean the Lu Family would become in-laws with the Yang Family, and the status of the Lu Family would naturally rise with this union.

Yang Qingyin was the legitimate daughter of the Yang Family and the most cherished granddaughter of Old Sir Yang, as well as the apple of Yang Yunlin’s eye. Becoming Yang Qingyin’s husband would definitely secure a high status within the Yang Family. Lu Weiguang did not need his father to remind him that the greatest hope of the Lu Family was for him to be with Yang Qingyin, to elevate the Lu Family’s status through marriage and gain more benefits through the Yang Family.

To achieve this goal, even if the cost was enormous, it would be worth it.

It was precisely because the Lu Family had this intention that after the incident occurred, they spared no expense to make Li Jiaqing take responsibility and keep him from being exposed. Thinking of this, Lu Weiguang felt touched and also ashamed; he had caused great trouble for his family.

Because of his own immaturity and recklessness, he had thought of joining Li Jiaqing in retaliating against Luo Ziling, without expecting it might nearly cause a disaster.

“Dad, it’s all my fault,” Lu Weiguang said, full of self-reproach: “I didn’t expect things to turn out this way, making our family pay a huge price.”

“That guy named Luo Ziling is indeed getting quite close to Yang Qingyin, and Yang Yunlin is very fond of his daughter, agreeing that she has the final say in her marriage matters, so he is your greatest threat. It’s quite normal for you to want to deal with him,” Lu Lianda took another sip of his drink, lowering his voice to Weiguang, “It’s just that you were not thoughtful enough and failed to carry out the matter properly.”

“Dad, what should I do next?”

“Do nothing for now,” Lu Lianda whispered: “Maintain your usual interactions with Yang Qingyin. If the opportunity arises, ask her out for the National Day holidays, as for other matters, don’t concern yourself with them yet.”

“Dad, what’s the background of that kid? Why have the Ouyang Family stepped in to support him several times?” Lu Weiguang asked Lu Lianda, puzzled.

“Dad is also investigating this person,” Lu Lianda said meaningfully: “It seems this kid is not as simple as we thought. With the strong backing of the Ouyang Family and winning the favor of Yang Qingyin, he’s not ordinary.”

This made Lu Weiguang sullen, as he considered himself superior to Luo Ziling in every aspect. He didn’t expect Yang Qingyin to reject his public courtship and develop an interest in Luo Ziling.

He truly liked Yang Qingyin very much; he had liked her since childhood and had always treated her well. If he could marry her, he thought his life would be without regrets. He also knew that marrying Yang Qingyin would be highly beneficial for his family; the Lu Family would become in-laws with the Yang Family, and with the marriage alliance, the Lu’s prestige would soar. He liked Yang Qingyin, and his relationship with her would bring great benefits to his family, which is why he had pursued her wholeheartedly over the years.

He didn’t expect Luo Ziling to come between them. Seeing Yang Qingyin’s attitude toward Luo Ziling seemed to be quite favorable, and this filled him with rage.

However, he did not foresee the situation turning out this way, nor did he expect his father’s attitude to be such, leaving a complex feeling in his heart.

Seeing the changing expressions on Lu Weiguang’s face, Lu Lianda said earnestly, “Weiguang, if you can’t even endure such a minor setback, then I would be very disappointed in you.”

“Dad,” Lu Weiguang quickly shook his head, “I’m just curious about what makes Luo Ziling stand out to Ouyang Feifei, to win her respect and protection. Moreover, what exactly is his identity.”

“I will find all this out,” Lu Lianda didn’t elaborate further, standing up, “Alright, let’s go back now.”

Lu Weiguang had no choice but to stand and follow Lu Lianda out of the private room.

As they left the private room, Lu Lianda reminded him again: “The cost of this incident has been very high, but fortunately, Li Zhengcheng and his son did not push things too far, otherwise our troubles would be even greater.”

“We have already given them father and son enough compensation, I believe they won’t betray us.”

“Never trust anyone at any time,” Lu Lianda gently reminded him.

“Yes!”

As Lu Weiguang followed his father, Lu Lianda, out of the hotel, Luo Ziling also left the Lingyun Building with Ouyang Huihui.

After dinner, he didn’t want to spend any more time with Ouyang Feifei. Although her demeanor was livelier than before, it still felt odd and made Luo Ziling uncomfortably restrained. Hence, right after dinner, he proposed to leave.

When Luo Ziling left, Ouyang Huihui went with him.

Ouyang Huihui had arrived in her little MINI, and when leaving, she invited Luo Ziling to ride back with her in her car.

“Forget it, I prefer to walk. It’s not far anyway,” Luo Ziling declined.

He was afraid of Ouyang Huihui’s retaliation. After the embarrassing events in the hotel room that day, he was even more wary of this woman.

Hearing Luo Ziling refuse to get in her car, Ouyang Huihui couldn’t help but feel angry.

“Good intentions are wasted on you,” she said, as she opened the car door, sat down inside with a huff, started the car, and left.

Ouyang Huihui did not entangle him further and left on her own volition, which made Luo Ziling breathe a sigh of relief.

He wanted to stroll aimlessly; the night was lovely, and walking as a means of travel seemed like a good choice.

But he had walked less than five hundred meters when Ouyang Huihui’s little MINI appeared beside him again.

“Get in,” Ouyang Huihui barked unfriendly at Luo Ziling, pushing open the passenger door, “I have something to tell you.”

“What is it?” Luo Ziling hesitated for a moment but didn’t get in.

“Get in and then I’ll tell you. It’s something very important.”

Luo Ziling hesitated again, but eventually, he got into the car.

“About the other night, you are not to mention it to anyone,” Ouyang Huihui said through gritted teeth to Luo Ziling, “If I hear even a whisper of a rumor, you won’t get off easy.”

“Actually, if you hadn’t brought it up today, I would have already forgotten about it,” he said. But Luo Ziling’s thoughts naturally drifted to the ‘scenery’ he had seen that day, and he couldn’t help but glance at Ouyang Huihui’s chest, which was tightly strapped by the seatbelt.

Unfortunately, this subconscious gesture was caught by Ouyang Huihui, who immediately became furious and embarrassed, her pretty face involuntarily reddening.

Luo Ziling quickly turned his head and looked outside at the scenery through the open window.

His reaction further angered Ouyang Huihui, but in the end, she said nothing.

As the car approached the school, the speed slowed down, and Luo Ziling, with his sharp eyes, spotted three of his roommates walking by the road.

The three guys naturally looked their way and were shocked to see Luo Ziling sitting in Ouyang Huihui’s car, their eyes widened in surprise.
