Chapter 325: 325: Gun Permit
Li Haiyang spoke about some other matters and even touched upon the past conflicts between the Ling and Yang families.
Lastly, he told Luo Ziling that his gun license had been secured, and today Luo Ziling could take the gun he was given.
While speaking, Li Haiyang handed the exquisite handgun to Luo Ziling.
Luo Ziling happily accepted it and played with it for a while in front of Li Haiyang.
After chatting for about forty minutes, Li Haiyang, feeling sleepy, told Luo Ziling to go on with his business.
Just as Luo Ziling was preparing to leave, Li Haiyang called Shanque in and asked him to prepare fifty bullets for Luo Ziling to take with him.
Shanque obediently agreed, leading Luo Ziling away.
“Can I ask about something?” Luo Ziling whispered as he followed Shanque out, “What mission has Lin Lan been assigned to? Is it dangerous?”
He had been wanting to ask this question on the way over but hesitated to voice it, fearing Shanque might refuse.
“You seem quite concerned about her,” Shanque looked at Luo Ziling with a meaningful gaze, “You two really care for each other, don’t you!”
Shanque’s remark made Luo Ziling blush a bit, but he still insisted defensively, “Of course I’m concerned. Her life was saved by me, I wouldn’t want her to get injured again.”
“Due to regulations, I can’t tell you much, but rest assured, her current mission is far less dangerous than her previous ones by many levels. You can be at ease now, right?” Shanque said, flashing a proud smile at Luo Ziling.
“Alright, I won’t ask anymore,” Shanque’s smile left Luo Ziling feeling awkward and he didn’t dare to inquire further.
Shanque then took Luo Ziling to collect his gun license.
Luo Ziling treasured the card that bore his photo and name, feeling quite proud. From now on, he could brandish his gun without fear of being accused of illegal possession. But a comment from Shanque quickly diminished his pride.
“Unless you have the status of an unofficial Dragon Rise member, never carry a firearm, or you’ll find yourself in trouble.”
“Okay,” Luo Ziling could only agree. Then he asked curiously, “Can I really become an unofficial member of Dragon Rise?”
“You’re not interested in being a formal member, but an unofficial one intrigues you?” Shanque gave Luo Ziling a disdainful look.
“I just don’t like being restrained,” Luo Ziling said somewhat sheepishly, “I’m a student and still need to study.”
Shanque, of course, didn’t dwell on these things with Luo Ziling and prepared to take him to her place to teach him Disguise Skills.
Before they reached her residence, Shanque asked curiously, “Do you want to shoot a few rounds? I heard you’ve only recently practiced shooting.”
“Sure,” Luo Ziling agreed but then added stingily, “Can I use your service gun? Or your bullets?”
Shanque was taken aback for a moment but then understood Luo Ziling’s point; the guy was being frugal with his limited fifty bullets, afraid to run out after using them.
“No problem, if you run out of bullets, you can ask the chief. If he agrees, he can give you more. Didn’t you ask about being an unofficial member just now?”
“No, I was embarrassed to ask,” Luo Ziling shook his head.
“If you’re too embarrassed to ask, no one else dares to, so next time you meet him, you can ask yourself,” Shanque said as she led Luo Ziling towards the shooting range.
The shooting range was still quite lively today, with several people practicing shooting.
Aside from a Falcon, the others were all unfamiliar faces.
Seeing Luo Ziling following Shanque, Falcon took the initiative to come over and greet him.
“You actually got the commander’s precious pistol,” Falcon said with surprise upon seeing the gun Luo Ziling brought. “You’re quite something, kid!”
“I’m here to fire a few rounds. I’ve just learned to shoot, and my marksmanship is very poor,” Luo Ziling said, feeling somewhat embarrassed. Although he knew that receiving Li Haiyang’s gift was definitely a special honor, it was not something to boast about to others, lest it come off as showing off.
“Let’s see your shooting,” Falcon seemed quite interested in Luo Ziling, temporarily stopping his practice with the other team members to watch him shoot.
With Falcon on one side and Shanque on the other, Luo Ziling was even more embarrassed. However, this also sparked his competitive spirit. He picked up the gun, loaded it somewhat awkwardly, aimed carefully, and then finally pulled the trigger.
“Bang bang bang…” Six bullets fired in succession, with only about half a second between each shot.
After firing all the loaded bullets, he then set down the gun.
“Looks like Kong Que taught you pretty well,” Falcon commented after watching Luo Ziling, chuckled, and walked toward the target.
Luo Ziling raced ahead of him and ran to the target, only to see six holes in it—all six bullets had hit the target.
Remarkably, two shots in the ten-ring, two in the nine-ring, with the other two bullets scoring five and six respectively. Such results wouldn’t be surprising for Dragon Rise team members, but for Luo Ziling who had just begun practicing shooting, it was an exceptional achievement.
“You’ve got quite a knack for shooting. Keep practicing, and after a few thousand rounds, your marksmanship could catch up with us,” Falcon patted Luo Ziling on the shoulder and left with a smile.
“Not bad at all. How many times have you fired a gun?” Shanque also came over, looked at the target, and asked Luo Ziling.
“Third time.”
“Pretty good. You learn fast. You could become a sharpshooter in the future.” Shanque then beckoned Luo Ziling, “Come with me, I’ll start by teaching you the basics of Disguise Skills.”
When Luo Ziling arrived at Shanque’s residence, he discovered that her living conditions were far worse than Lin Lan’s—she did not have a single room, but instead shared one room with two other team members.
“You actually have so many female team members?” Luo Ziling was quite surprised.
“Don’t ask about things you shouldn’t,” Shanque reminded him with a smile.
Luo Ziling nodded with a smile.
At Shanque’s place, Luo Ziling learned the basics of professional Disguise Skills. After about an hour, Shanque stopped the lesson.
“Learning this also requires insight, and it seems you’re not lacking in that. You can learn anything,” Shanque complimented Luo Ziling.
“Naturally, I’m a rather smart person,” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but boast a little.
“Seems like it,” Shanque didn’t snub him like Lin Lan did but agreed instead.
When Shanque dropped Luo Ziling off at the school, it was already half-past three in the afternoon.
As Luo Ziling and Shanque waved goodbye, preparing to head back to his dormitory, Wuyue called. “Young Master, I’ll be waiting for you at the school gate in half an hour.”
“Okay!” Luo Ziling immediately agreed.
After hanging up, he then realized that Ling Ruonan had already sent him several messages, the gist of which was that she had returned to Yanjing and would have Wuyue come to pick him up shortly.
Seeing Ling Ruonan’s messages, Luo Ziling felt a warm surge in his heart and was excited about their upcoming meeting.
