The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 380: 380 Accidental Encounter

Seeing Yang Qingyin’s message, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but laugh.

He promptly used his textbook as a cover and replied, “Little Yang, whatever option you hope I’ll choose, I’ll choose that one.”

“Make a choice yourself!!!” Yang Qingyin’s message was followed by several exclamation marks.

“Then can I choose neither?”

Yang Qingyin simply replied with a few embarrassed emojis.

“How about this, I will treat Little Yang to dinner and also treat you to a movie?” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but laugh when he sent this message.

Unfortunately, his laughter caught the teacher’s attention.

“Ziling, what are you doing?” the teacher yelled, but didn’t come over.

These days, with the prevalence of smartphones, teachers were very aware that if a student suddenly started laughing inexplicably during a lesson while the others weren’t, they were likely playing with their phone and had seen something funny.

First-year students were fairly honest during class and not many played with their phones. If someone was caught doing so, they would definitely receive a stern reprimand, or even serve as a warning to others to deter similar behavior.

So, upon seeing Luo Ziling’s beaming laughter, the forty-something male teacher couldn’t help but shout.

Luo Ziling was startled and quickly pocketed his phone, with movements so swift that even the nearby Cao Jianhui didn’t see clearly what he did.

Nor did the teacher, of course.

Seeing Luo Ziling behaving, the teacher did not pursue the matter further and continued with the lesson.

If it were another student, the teacher might have taken the time for a proper lecture, but this student named Luo Ziling was someone on whom the department head had explicitly asked the faculty to keep a close eye, so the physics teacher didn’t make a big deal out of it.

After hiding his phone in his pocket, Luo Ziling heard the WeChat notification sound several times, but ultimately he didn’t dare to look at it.

Thankfully, the class soon ended.

The moment the teacher announced the end of the class, Luo Ziling hurriedly took out his phone, only to see that Yang Qingyin had sent several messages.

“That’s great, someone’s offering dinner and a movie; today must be a good day.”

“I’ll take you to eat something you’ve never tried before today, how about that?”

“Eh, no response? Looks like you got caught by the teacher during class, haha, took a scolding, didn’t you?”

Following that were several smug laughing emojis.

“I almost had my phone confiscated by the teacher,” Luo Ziling replied, feeling quite aggrieved.

When he followed Yang Qingyin to a Northwest-style snack bar in the evening, Yang Qingyin teased Luo Ziling about the day’s events.

“When your senior sister played with her phone in class, the teacher would never interfere, because your senior sister is a top student, and a certain junior is a poor student, that’s the difference,” said Yang Qingyin with a gleeful smile.

Luo Ziling felt disheartened and, unable to retaliate on this front, had no choice but to take out his frustration on the delicious food in front of him.

Seeing Luo Ziling a bit downcast, Yang Qingyin didn’t mind and asked quietly again, “Why is it only the English teacher who offers to give you extra lessons? Why don’t the other subject teachers help you?”

“I don’t know either,” Luo Ziling laughed, “Maybe all the other teachers are men who see how handsome I am and feel jealous, so they don’t want to give me extra lessons.”

“Look at you being so full of yourself,” Yang Qingyin said with disdain, “Who else is as narcissistic as you, always reminding others how handsome you are. I don’t think you’re that handsome, you know?”

“Not handsome?” Luo Ziling pointed earnestly at his own face. “Indeed, I am handsome. When I left the house today, I made sure to look for two minutes and didn’t find any flaws. Maybe you should take another look, look carefully, and you will definitely think the same as I do.”

Thus, Yang Qingyin was left trembling with laughter by Luo Ziling’s deadpan joke.

“I can’t with you,” Yang Qingyin laughed, her face flushing slightly and, taking Luo Ziling’s advice, she looked him over seriously before spitting, “How come the more I look, the uglier you seem?”

“Alright, you’ve successfully hit my self-esteem, and now I’ve lost my appetite,” Luo Ziling said, and pushed away the empty plate in front of him, “I have no appetite, let’s go, we’re off to the movie!”

“And you call this having no appetite?” Yang Qingyin pointed at the completely empty plate. “How can you eat so cleanly with no appetite?”

“Isn’t it because I saw Senior’s gorgeous face?” Luo Ziling smirked. “As the saying goes, ‘beauty is a feast for the eyes.’ With Senior’s beautiful face as a side dish, of course, my appetite would be great.”

Complimented so cleverly by Luo Ziling, Yang Qingyin was instantly pleased and reached out to take his hand.

“Senior, you must have a pretty good appetite too, right? A handsome man can also be an appetite enhancer,” Luo Ziling didn’t forget to compliment himself.

“Enough, enough, no more self-flattery. In the whole world, you’re the handsomest, okay?” Yang Qingyin said while pulling Luo Ziling’s arm. “Let’s go fast, or we’ll be late for the movie.”

On the way to the movie theater, they chatted and joked around. After getting their tickets, they headed inside.

Before they went in, Luo Ziling thoughtfully bought some snacks and a cup of milk tea for Yang Qingyin.

When they walked into the movie theater, they were still holding hands.

But the moment they found their seats, Yang Qingyin suddenly let go of Luo Ziling’s hand.

“Sis, brother-in-law, you guys are watching a movie too?”

A vaguely familiar voice came over, explaining to Luo Ziling why Yang Qingyin was so decisive in her action.

In the neighboring seats were none other than Yang Qingye and that pretty girl called Ning Xiaojing they had run into before.

Yang Qingyin felt a bit awkward and really wanted to pull Luo Ziling out of the movie theater.

But Luo Ziling, completely unfazed, took Yang Qingyin’s hand and sat down, greeting them politely, “Hello there. What a coincidence that our movie tickets are right next to each other.”

“It’s fate,” Yang Qingye said with a sleazy look at Luo Ziling and shook hands with him, “Brother-in-law, for the sake of our destiny, you have to buy us a late-night snack after the movie.”

“No problem,” Luo Ziling agreed readily.

Yang Qingyin, whose smile had long disappeared, sat down unhappily.

She had Luo Ziling sit on one side while she and Yang Qingye sat together.

After sitting down, she whispered with Yang Qingye for a long time, and they didn’t stop even after the movie had started.

Luo Ziling, on the other hand, didn’t care much; it was his first time ever in a movie theater, and he was quite thrilled to be watching a movie there. Plus, he was sitting next to his goddess.

It was just a shame that with Yang Qingye being such a bright third-wheel, the chances of any subtle moves were gone.
