Chapter 400: 400: Must Make a Good Plan
The weather in Yanjing had turned deeply autumnal, and the lakeside evenings were quite chilly, so Luo Ziling, fearing that Yang Qingyin would get cold, took off his coat and put it on her.
Yang Qingyin wore Luo Ziling’s coat until they reached the front of the apartment building, where she finally took it off and returned it to Luo Ziling.
After she went upstairs, she looked through the stairwell window and waited until she saw Luo Ziling leave before returning to her dorm room.
Once back in the dorm, Yang Qingyin found a message from Yang Qingye. She immediately opened it to read.
“Sis, Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui are eyeing your man with predatory interest. You can’t take this lightly, as they might just get to him first. Your man is a very simple guy; he’s kind-hearted and can easily be duped by women. You have to act fast, don’t let him be snatched away by another woman.”
Yang Qingye’s message made Yang Qingyin both embarrassed and annoyed, but after reading it seriously twice, she began to somewhat agree with what Yang Qingye had said.
She was well aware that the Ouyang sisters had an unusually keen interest in Luo Ziling—not to mention that Ouyang Feifei had once been engaged to him. Ouyang Feifei and Ouyang Huihui were very proud individuals. For women as proud as they are to humble themselves for a man and do a lot for him spoke volumes in itself.
However, Yang Qingyin had always been very confident in her own charm and found the natural and warm process of her relationship with Luo Ziling quite comforting. She hadn’t considered changing any of that through outside forces. As for the private interactions between Luo Ziling and the Ouyang sisters, she simply laughed them off.
But having heard from Yang Qingye about what happened that evening, she realized things were not so simple.
Ouyang Feifei had danced with only Luo Ziling and turned down all the other wealthy young masters, which was a clear signal Ouyang Feifei was sending out to everyone.
If that wasn’t the case, Yang Qingye, who normally only cared about frivolous pleasures, wouldn’t have made a special point of warning her.
In the end, Yang Qingyin merely warned Yang Qingye in a slightly annoyed tone, insisting that he must not call Luo Ziling “Brother-in-law” in the future; if she heard him use that term again, she would not be polite. Yang Qingye didn’t seem to care and simply replied with several chuckling emojis.
After Luo Ziling returned to his room, he was surrounded by the other three guys, inquiring about the evening’s happenings.
“Boss, who were all those people today? They seem to have quite the standing,” unable to contain his curiosity, Cao Jianhui asked Luo Ziling.
“They’re all scions of great wealth, not the sort we should mess with,” Luo Ziling, not wanting to talk much about those people, dodged the question with a laugh, “Let’s get some sleep. I’m dead tired from drinking so much; I can’t take it anymore. I’m going to take a shower; don’t bother me.”
“Boss, how do you know them? Are you one of them?” Cao Jianhui was not ready to drop the subject and held on to Luo Ziling’s hand, pressing him for an answer.
“How could I possibly be of the same status as them, coming from a small mountain village in the Northwest?” Luo Ziling laughed, “I only know them because of the Ouyang sisters.”
“Then why did they drink with you? I feel like you have some deep grudge against them,” since Cao Jianhui had already broached the subject, he decided to get to the bottom of it.
Luo Ziling laughed derisively, “They think I’m chasing after Ouyang Huihui and her sister, so they regard me with the sort of animosity that might accompany a deep grudge. But out of respect for the sisters’ feelings, they don’t dare to show their displeasure. Alright, I’ve answered your questions, can you leave me alone now?”
Cao Jianhui had to let go.
After taking a shower, Luo Ziling ignored the nagging of the three fellows and picked up his phone to play around.
He saw several messages from Ouyang Huihui.
“Luo Ziling, you drank so much today, are you okay?”
“Sorry about today’s event, I didn’t expect so many people would spontaneously come celebrate my birthday.”
“`
“My sister said that this must have been orchestrated by someone; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been possible for so many people to show up.”
“Ask Yang Qingye who was the one who called people over.”
“Were you upset today?”
“You’re going to sleep? I still can’t sleep; if you haven’t slept yet, please chat with me for a bit!”
Luo Ziling thought for a moment and replied, “Getting ready to sleep. The alcohol is hitting me, and I’m very sleepy.”
“So you haven’t slept yet!” Ouyang Huihui’s messages kept coming.
“If I made you unhappy today, I’ll treat you to a big meal some other day as an apology, okay?”
“My sister and I will get to the bottom of these uninvited guests. My sister said that after today’s incident, you’ve made enemies with these people, and you must be careful. They are not ordinary people; their means of revenge are endless, and it would be best to tell your mom about it.”
Grateful for Ouyang Huihui’s concern, Luo Ziling messaged back, “They can’t possibly join forces against me; they are also constantly fighting among themselves, so I’m not afraid of them. Yang Qingye said it was his cousin who called him over, but Wu Zhongning didn’t say who started it. Anyway, they felt that they had to be there to celebrate your birthday, given that it’s such a significant one like your twentieth.”
“I guess it must have been Ling Haining who planned it. Your cousin is quite capable; you must be cautious. Today, the fact that you got them drunk will make them hold a grudge, not to mention all the other issues. The Yang Family won’t let you off either, but Yang Qingye seems to treat you quite well. You might be able to win him over to gather information for you.”
Luo Ziling didn’t expect Ouyang Huihui to say so much. He was somewhat surprised and slightly grateful.
“I’ll take note, thank you. I’m dead tired and going to sleep now, good night!”
“Okay, good night!” Ouyang Huihui returned the farewell with a good night and added a few rolling eyes emojis but didn’t send any more messages.
Ling Haining and Ling Haijun didn’t head straight home after leaving the “Shengshi Garden” entertainment club; they went to the hospital instead.
Ling Haijun, who couldn’t hold his liquor well, had drunk too much and started showing severe symptoms of alcohol poisoning after leaving the club and had no choice but to go to the hospital.
Ling Haining, worried about any complications, accompanied him until he was sober.
Having received medication, Ling Haijun gradually recovered.
“Brother, we were played by that Luo kid today. Since he studies medicine, he must have used some drugs to be so good at drinking,” Ling Haijun began complaining while he was still influenced by the alcohol. “How could you keep your cool today and let him humiliate us? Who does he think he is? He’s just a bastard trying to return to the Ling Family, but he has no chance.”
Ling Haining was certainly frustrated and even angry, but he was much more collected than Ling Haijun and didn’t say much, only suggesting that Ling Haijun should go home and rest.
“Brother, we can’t let him push us around, nor can we allow him to return. Otherwise, our lives will be harder. I heard my dad say that the two elders are considering letting him return. You must stop this from happening at all costs.”
Hearing Ling Haijun rant once more, Ling Haining let out a low shout, telling Ling Haijun to shut up.
But Ling Haining also knew that what Ling Haijun said was true; what they needed to do now was to make sure to stop Luo Ziling from returning to the Ling Family.
Ling Haining had initially thought the matter would be simple, but after today, he felt that things had become complicated.
“We need to devise a good plan,” Ling Haining muttered to himself as he left the hospital.
